Matey on epämuodollinen termi, jota käytetään kuvaamaan ystävää tai kaveria erityisesti brittiläisessä englannissa. Se on usein käytössä puhekielessä ja viittaa läheiseen suhteeseen, jossa ihmiset tuntevat olevansa mukavassa ja rentoutuneessa vuorovaikutuksessa toistensa kanssa. Termi voi myös viitata ystävälliseen tai epämuodolliseen suhteeseen, joka ei välttämättä ole syvä, mutta on silti lämmin ja ystävällinen.
